- a female parent,

-a woman exercising control, influence, or authority like that of a mother.

 

These definitions came straight from the dictionary, although it does not even begin to graze the meaning at all. Being a mother is so much more than that.

     The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never.

          There is an instinct in a woman to love most her own child -- and an instinct to make any child who loves her, her own.
